Back in January 2021 when the 1st and 10th greens were closed for renovations, nobody could have anticipated so many delays with extreme weather events and covid restrictions. In recent months, golfers have watched and admired our new greens whilst patiently waiting for them to open. Fortunately, the waiting game is now over to play at least one of our new greens!
At the end of June, one of our members, Greg Reid, was the first golfer to play the new 1st green from the temporary tee. The following day our Saturday comp players got their first chance to experience the new putting surface. First, on the tee, that day was the group of Nick Pantano, Tony Maude, Perry Pericles and Terry Morris who all enjoyed the experience with 3 pars and a solitary bogey. The feedback from all our members on the day was extremely positive and has everyone looking forward to the 9th, 10th and 18th greens opening up for play.
Course works progressed well during some beautiful winter days in June. Drainage was completed on the new 10th tee and was finished off nicely with some fresh couch grass. Unfortunately, the wait for more holes to open up has been delayed due to 300mm of rain from an East Coast Low during early July. It’s very disappointing after the course had just dried out in June with only 6mm falling on the course for the whole month. We’re hopeful to see the works continue once the weather gets better!
