From July 14-17 we ran a Tipping Comp to celebrate the 150th Open Championship –
Tipsters needed to pick the winner and the winning score. The winner of the tipping comp picks the winner and the closest winning score. If nobody picked the winner then we continued down the leaderboard for the highest finisher.
Our own Aussie Cameron Smith shot a spectacular 64 in the final round to come from 4 behind to win The Claret Jug on 20 under (268) by a shot from Cameron Young and 2 to Rory McIlroy, It has been 29 years since our own Greg Norman lifted the Claret Jug.
On a related topic, earlier that day at 6:45 am, Andrew Thomson (son of the legendary 5-time Open winner) Peter Thomson scattered some of his father’s ashes on the 18th green. It turned out to be a good omen and we are sure Peter must have been smiling watching down on Cam’s win!
Congratulations to the Winner of our Tipping comp, Bruce Monahan tipping the winner $54 on Cam Smith at 273.
Runner-up was Greg Gibson who won 2nd Place ($30) on Cam Smith at 274 and 3rd Place ($20) Frances Daly on Cam Smith at 275.
