On Saturday 14th and Tuesday 17th of December Hurstville Golf Club hosted two of its biggest events of the year, the Christmas Hams Days. It’s always a popular day with large fields participating in the individual Stableford event where members can win a full leg of ham or a bottle of wine for playing well on the day. Both days were extremely hot, especially for the Tuesday event where temperatures rose to 38 degrees, which forced the shotgun start to be brought forward 30 minutes to help members get off the course earlier. Some members still had to retire early due to heat exhaustion, but fortunately nobody suffered any major symptoms.
After the round, players enjoyed a well-deserved complimentary beverage on behalf of the Golf Club and the Lugarno Lions served up some tasty snag rolls to ensure nobody went home hungry.
