The greens are starting to bounce back nicely after heavy coring was brought forward and completed on the 4th September. A large volume of quality sand was loaded on each green and rubbed in after the plug holes were brushed away. It was the first time a renovation of this scale had been completed in one day and required all greenkeepers on duty and extra recruits brought in. As a result, there was less disruption to golfers with the course being reopened for the Thursday members comp the following day. Other maintenance jobs that have been completed include the coring of all tees and some tree trimming.
And with Spring temperatures increasing at a rapid rate, all we need is a bit of rain occasionally to promote more grass growth and green up the entire course. I’m sure some of our local wildlife residents featured below will also appreciate it. Make sure you take the time during your round to look around and admire them in their natural habitat they share with us. You might even be lucky enough for one of them to pay you a special visit, as one friendly little Kookaburra did for Vicki Costello when she was on the 12th tee during a recent round.
