Lose the Slice
Are you frustrated with constantly slicing the ball? Wish you could hit a baby draw?
If this is you, read on to see how a better set up and turn can put you in a better position to hit a draw.
SET – UP
Most slicers don’t set up with any right side bend. They just bend over from the waist without creating any tilt behind the ball.
Try this move to improve your set up. After taking your grip, stand tall and bend to your right so your left shoulder is much higher than your right shoulder (opposite for left hand golfers). Now that you have some tilt behind the ball, lower your chest by bending forward from the waist. Try to get into a habit of always creating side bend before forward bend.
TAKE – AWAY
Now your set up is better, we need to stay behind the ball as we take the club away to complete our backswing. The best way to achieve this is to make sure the left shoulder moves to the right as it moves down. Ideally try to move the shoulder a greater distance across than down. For golfers that have never achieved this before, it will feel uncomfortable and you may hit some heavy shots. Stick with it, as you're now in a better position to attack the ball from the inside and your lower body will gradually learn to shift forward to help you make better contact with the ball.
