Once again the Hurstville Handiskins Tournament proved a popular event amongst club golfers with 46 members signing up on Saturday 19th August for the first round. The event is run over 5 consecutive Saturday comps and it always creates a lot of interest as participants jockey for positions on the leaderboard. The ultimate goal is to finish in the Top 4 and qualify for the Skins Final to have a chance at becoming the 2023 Hurstville Handiskins Champion.
So far it’s been the women outshining the men in the early rounds. It was a case of deja vu for Gai Rowan in Round 1 where she scored 41 points to win the day. It’s the 3rd time Gai has jumped out to a fast start, having previously taken out first round honours in 2019 with 41 points and 2021 with 47 points.
Round 2 – Loretta Holland won the day with 38 points the edge out Michael Cowell and Tony Reilly on a count back.
Round 3 – Jennifer Zeitoun won the day with 37 points on a countback over Fay Zajakovski, Ian Rydstrand and David Buchanan.
With 2 rounds left there’s still plenty of time for everyone to shine and qualify for the $1200 Final. Each round will have one winner and there will also be a NTP on the 18th hole round 5, only for Handiskins participants.
