With Mother’s Day approaching, we’re highlighting the wonderful stories that live on our greens. Meet Judith Hayes and her son, Stephen Ireland, a duo who have been regular playing partners for over 15 years!
For this pair, golf is less about the leaderboard and more about the connection. They have mastered the art of "relaxed golf," choosing not to keep a head-to-head score because, as they put it, it takes the fun out of the game. Instead, they focus on the experience, celebrating every par as a shared victory.
When asked about the best part of sharing a round with his mum, Stephen says:
"She loves the game and it’s a couple of hours we spend together having a few laughs. Also, at 86, it’s great exercise, even with a cart!"
Their story is a perfect example of how the course provides a space to unplug, catch up, and appreciate the company as much as the sport.
Happy Mother’s Day to Judith and all the mums in our community who make every round a little brighter!
